Inconel 625 is a nickel-chromium alloy that is used for its high strength, excellent fabricability, and outstanding corrosion resistance. The strength of Inconel 625 comes from the stiffening effect of molybdenum and niobium on its nickel-chromium matrix.
This combination of elements also is responsible for superior resistance to a wide range of corrosive environments of unusual severity as well as to high-temperature effects such as oxidation and carburization.
Inconel 625 is used primarily in four applications: seawater, aerospace, chemical processing, and nuclear. Inconel 625 is a great choice for seawater applications because of its high corrosion-fatigue strength, high tensile strength, and its resistance to chloride-ion stress-corrosion cracking.
In aerospace applications, Inconel 625 is used because of its superior tensile, creep and rupture strength, as well as its outstanding fatigue and thermal fatigue strength.
Inconel 625 can also be used in chemical processing because of its impressive and versatile corrosion resistance under a wide range of temperatures and pressures.
Inconel 625’s high strength, excellent uniform corrosion resistance, resistance to stress cracking & pitting make it an excellent choice for the nuclear field.
